Sony & Panasonic “Junk” Credit Rating – The Pitch ratings agency has downgraded the two Japanese electronics companies to junk on the basis of their weak balance sheets and continual decline in the global electronics sector in the face of strong competition from Korean rivals Samsung and LG. However, Fitch recognized the market and technology leadership of Sony’s CMOS sensors imaging division, and praised Panasonic’s consolidation of manufacturing facilities.
Sony’s New 84-inch 4K TV a Big Hit at Dallas Intro – At an Expo event at Starpower Home Entertainment Systems in Dallas, Sony’s new XBR 84X900 4K HDTV made its national debut and two of the $25,000 sets were sold during the three-day event.
