Electronic Devices Kept Plugged In When Not in Use Waste Money – Those devices around your home which you leave plugged in when they’re idle could be wasting $19 billion a year across the country. This idle load is a huge energy drain and much of it is energy waste. The council said such electricity consumption could translate to a per-home cost of $165 a year. Among offenders are TVs, modems, computers, AV devices and printers and copiers. Also household fans, lighting, recirculation pumps and aquarium equipment.
