Low-distortion Op Amps from National Semiconductor – Two families of high-fidelity audio operational amps have been introduced by National Semiconductor Corporation. The 44V and 34V series practically eliminate distortion with a THD+noise figure of only .00003 percent. The highly linear behavior will allow audio manufacturers to produce systems with cleaner and more transparent sound quality. High speed and high output drive are qualities of the new op amps. They are well-suited for AV receivers, preamps and mixers, as well as speakers, monitors, subwoofers, and home automation components.
Drummer Max Roach Dies – Blue Note Records announces the passing of legendary jazz drummer, bebop found, bandleader and civil rights activist Max Roach, who was 83 years old. He had redefined the role of drums in jazz during the bebop revolution of the late 40s and early 50s, participating in many of the movement’s seminal recordings. He is heard on some of classic albums, including The Amazing Bud Powell Vol. 1, Thelonious Monk’s Genius of Modern Music Vol. 2, Miles Davis’ Birth of the Cool, and Ellington’s Money Jungle.
CEDIA Show in Denver in 3 Weeks – The international trade association of companies that design and install electronics systems for the home holds its 2007 Expo at the Colorado Convention Center from September 5 thru 9, with a press day on the 4th.
