New Naxos Hi-Res Lossless Streaming Service – The world’s leading independent classical music label has lauched a hi-res lossless classical music streaming service called ClassicsOnline HD-LL. Using adaptive bitrate streaming technology, it alloows subscribers to listen to classical music at the highest possible sound quality without buffering or loss of signal. There are also options for download of both hi-res and MP3 audio files. Naxos has made its entire huge catalog available for streaming since 1996, and began its Naxos Music Library subscription streaming service in 2002. Liner notes, libretti and composer/artist information is provided for most recordings. The user can stream from 24-bit/44.1K all the way up to 24-bit/192K depending on the available network capacity, user devices and equipment. Even at 44.1K, 24-bit technology achieves a much broader dynamic range and has more detail, especially during quiet passages of music. An intuitive search engine has been crafted especially for classical music. Playlist creation is easy and there is off-line listening for mobile devices.

PonoMusic World Store Now in Beta – A full slate of products will be offered on its new download site, in addition to about two dozen high-end audio and record outlets currently selling the new Pono in limited quantities. There will be more Pono hi-res players, speakers, headphones and earbuds and home players with terabytes of storage. PonoMusic World features over two millions songs with resolutions from CD quality to hi-res 192/24 from the big three music labels. It plans to offer free  higher-grade resolution upgrades of previously-purchased albums (for Kickstarter backers only) when a higher-res version becomes available. There are currently about 5000 hi-res albums in the store – mostly 96/24 and 192/24. The player itself supports up to 192/24 and FLAC/ALAC/WAV/AIFF/AAC and MP3 formats and has a 64GB microSD card, plus a rechageable Li-ion battery delivering up to eight hours of playback time.

RCA Introduces Curved UHD TV Display –  At the 2015 CES this week On Corp. will introduce its first durved UHD LED TV in a 65-inch screen size.  It is one of seven UHD TVs for 2015. They have Smart TV functionality, YouTubeUHD decoding, four HDMI 2.0 inputs and HDCP 2.2 content protection support. They have an advanced upscaling engine, color enhancement, and super-optimum frame reproduction. The curved-screen model features multi-directional scaling technology, high-tap filters with programmable parameters, de-jagging support, and video feather artifact detection and removal. It also has Pure Color enhancement, scene detection, 3D adaptive color control and 3D adaptive sharpness control, plus an advanced detachable sound system with six drivers and 60W of power.
