Audyssey 60 Degrees Introduced – The firm’s new technology upgrade for headphone listening brings depth and spatial awareness. Audyssey says some previous methods have fed some of the signal from one ear over to the other, with little success. Their Audyssey 60 degrees develops an immersive listening experience by sending the a blend of acoustical and psychoacoustical cues to both ears simultaneously to result in spatially expanded sound perception and a wider soundstage. It is a software-based solution quickly and easily used in any mobile device or personal computer. They say “we restore the missing information to deliver a natural, more precise listening experience.”

Spotify New Service: Forgotify – It features music that was never played before in the service’s 4 million plus song files. It’s for those who get tired of endllessly repeating playlists on the hundreds of stations they normally provide. It uses the 20% of Spotify’s tunes that had never been played, even once. So this is another way for them to get heard.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Great Season – Co-artistic directors of the Soceity—Wu Han and David Finckel—have turned chamber music into a veritable variety show and caused a 50% increase in ticket sales over the last five years. The new season—its 45th—has 120 events and 28 of them will be stream live from the CMS website. The couple noted “the powerful effect that CMS’s activities are having on the chamber music world at large.”

Sacramento Philharmonic/Opera Chief Quits – Rob Tannenbaum has resigned as general director of the Sacramento Region Performing Arts Alliance. Both the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera have been struggling financially and Tannenbaum was apparently unaware of how dire the situation was when he came onboard last July

Yahoo’s New Aviate App – Yahoo has purchased Aviate app, which automatically categorizes all of your apps and intelligently rearranges your home video screen thuout the day to dynamically display the information you need most. Aviate shows you information about about the music you are listening to, including upcoming concerts as well. You can also see bios and recent tweets from the artist. It has also added a beta version of a new “Listening Space,” which surfaces all your music apps in one place.

Netflix Ensures Its Subscribers Receive Unimpeded Movie Streaming –  Netflix has agreed to pay Comcast for direct access to its broadband network, to eliminated the need to go thru backbone service providers which slow down streaming. Netflix and Comcast have been in a battle over the cost of delivering streaming to Comcast’s broadband customers, and it has raised flags of concern in some quarters.
