Dion and Friends: Live New York City, Collectibles Records, COL-CD-2899, CD 1 = 42:35 CD 2 = 44:49 ****:

Remember “necking”? Then you remember Dion! The Rock & Roll Hall of
Fame member has a new double disc release called Dion and Friends, Live
New York City.  With 18 songs mixed with dialog, this double album
is sure to send you back to the time you heard such hits as The
Wanderer, Teenager in Love, and Runaround Sue.

Taken from a recording of a live concert from 1987, Live New York City
covers the great career of Dion. Hit after hit still played with the
same love and emotion that went into them, some songs even 40 years
old! The sound quality of the live music is superb. The crowd noise in
the background is not overbearing. You really feel like you are right
there with them.

I wasn’t around when these hits were released, but I feel them just the
same. Abraham, Martin and John is my favorite song. It really gets me
grooving, like a Dylan ballad, long and slow.  Dion interacts with
the crowd like he never skipped a beat. The cheers that he received
must have made him want to continue playing the whole night.

The friends that help beat the night away with Dion are: Phoebe Snow,
Paul Shaffer, Felix Cavaliere, Darlene Love, and Little Steven Van
Zandt. Most of which are in the Hall of Fame themselves!

Songs on the albums:  DISC 1: That’s My Desire, Ruby Baby, Donna
The Prima Donna, Wonderful Girl, Drip Drop, Tell Me Why, I Used To Be A
Brooklyn Dodger, I Wonder Why, The Wander;  DISC 2:Abraham, Martin
and John, Sweet Surrender, The Truth Will Set You Free, A Teenager In
Love, Where Or When, Little Diane, Love Come To Me, No One Knows,
Runaround Sue.
