NaxosSmallLogoWith the cooperation of Naxos, a gorgeous 8-DVD Jubilee Box of performances all over the world led by famed conductor Claudio Abbado will be this month’s drawing/giveaway for three lucky readers. To be eligible, all you need do is register on our simple form this month. Works of Beethoven, Mahler, Bruckner, Brahms and Bach are featured, totaling 12½ hours of viewing pleasure. The three winners will be listed here in September.

Here are the ten winners of the two Chesky jazz multichannel hybrid SACDs, our July drawing. The discs were “Cobbs Corner” and Larry Coryell’s “Impressions”: Robert Bertrando, Reno NV; Stephan Hohil, Colonia NJ; Francis Welch, Brockport NY; Ken London, Burbank CA; Mark Brauer, St. Paul MN; Walter Stabenau, Pottstown PA; Vickie McGrew, Collinsville MS; Ralph Masseo Jr., Port Chester NY; Sheila Pastore, Portland OR; Brian Trout, Clardale AZ. Congrats to all! (and remember if you don’t have a Blu-ray deck as yet these all also have a standard CD layer.)

AUDIOPHILE AUDITION began in 1985 as a weekly national radio series hosted by John Sunier, which aired for 13½ years on up to 200 public radio and commercial stations coast to coast. In September 1998 its web site for programming information was expanded to the present free Internet publication.

August 2013 is our 173rd issue. All disc reviews (well over 100) are added thru the month as they are written and received, usually daily. The most recent reviews appear at the top of each Section Index. The Home Page lists the five latest published reviews, the Section Index lists the past two months of reviews, and the Archive goes back to January 2001. The Disc Index lists all past reviews. Audiophile vinyl reviews are now included in the SACD/Hi-Res Section.
