CheskyLogoTwo exciting jazz SACDs will be in the hands of ten AUDIOPHILE AUDITION readers next month who register this month on our simple form.  Both from Chesky Records, they benefit from the label’s minimalist miking techniques and will make an outstanding addition to any audiophile collection. Cobbs Corner is a swinging quartet led by drummer Jimmy Cobb, with legendary New York pianist Ronnie Mathews. Cobbs has been called “One of the most versatile and musical drummers in music today.” Larry Coryell, who has been called “the most innovative guitarist since Charlie Christian” goes back to his roots in Impressions—his organ trio SACD.  The ten winners of the two SACDs will be listed here in August.

And here are the ten winners of the 4-CD set of the complete Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach from Music & Arts—our June drawing. Congrats to all!: Stan Schwab, Wilmette IL; Robert Gilbert, Peachtree Corners GA; Richard L. Meyer, Apple Valley CA; Alan Craig, Grand Junction CO; Neal Arluck, Long Island City NY; Robert Bonini, McMurray PA; Howard Edwards, Berkeley CA; Kathleen M. Smith, Cottonwood AZ; Gregory F. Weis, Aiken SC; James Burr, Larchmont NY.

EDITORIAL

AUDIOPHILE AUDITION began in 1985 as a weekly national radio series hosted by John Sunier, which aired for 13½ years on up to 200 public radio and commercial stations coast to coast. In September 1998 its web site for programming information was expanded to the present free Internet publication.

July 2013 is our 172nd issue. All disc reviews (well over 100) are added thru the month as they are written and received, usually daily. The most recent reviews appear at the top of each Section Index. The Home Page lists the five latest published reviews, the Section Index lists the past two months of reviews, and the Archive goes back to January 2001. The Disc Index lists all past reviews. Audiophile vinyl reviews are now included in the SACD/Hi-Res Section.
