George Gee and the Jump Jivin’ Wailers – If Dreams Come True – GJazz Records GJ3568, 44 minutes ****:

Lindyhop, Charleston, Balboa; it’s Swing Music baby!!!  George Gee and the Jump, Jivin’ Wailers Swing Orchestra If Dreams Come True is classic big band jazz for listenin’ and dancin’!   Featuring the musical arrangements of Walk Szymanski, the 44 minutes of Swing on this album are sure to get those calorie burn counts where you need them to be!

Brooklyn, New York in the 1930s through 1960s was the place to be for Lindyhoppers and Swingers world wide.  George Gee has put together some of the greatest musicians in the field that take us back to the Apollo, the Savoy, Don Sullivan’s, Live Psychic and many many more of the historic joints where it all got started some seventy years ago. Brooklyn baby, Brooklyn!!!  The Wailer’s translation of Puttin’ on the Ritz and It Had to Be You are two of my favorites, as well as the lead song All the Cats Join In.

The thirteen heart rate elevating tracks (complete with BPM’s) on the album are: All the Cats Join In, Gin for Xmas, Shorty George, Sent for You Yesterday, Down South Camp Meeting, If Dreams Come True, Puttin’ on the Ritz, It Had to Be You, Ball of Fire, You Can Depend On Me, Lulu’s Back in Town, Topsy, and Victory Stride.
