Star Trek: Enterprise takes place in the year 2151, approximately one
hundred years before the time of Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, and
Dr. McCoy.  Humans are still learning the ropes of space travel
and the Enterprise NX-01 becomes the first Starfleet starship equipped
with a Warp 5 engine.  With this engine, the Enterprise has the
capability to explore deep space.  Commanded by Captain Jonathan
Archer, the brave crew of the starship sets out on a revolutionary
voyage to uncover new life and new civilizations.  Highlights from
the second season include: “Carbon Creek” where T’Pol’s recollection of
the Vulcans’ initial encounter with humans differs with what Archer and
Trip learned from history books; “Regeneration” in which an arctic
research team on Earth discovers debris from an alien vessel buried in
a glacier along with the bodies of two cybernetically-enhanced
humanoids who, upon being thawed, come to life and abduct the
scientists and their transport ship; and “The Expanse” where an alien
probe attacks Earth and the Enterprise is recalled to provide
protection.

The entire twenty-six episodes from the 2002-2003 season plus the
special features are contained on seven discs.  (Disc One:
Shockwave Part II, Carbon Creek, Minefield, Dead Stop.  Disc Two:
A Night in Sickbay, Marauders, The Seventh, The Communicator.
Disc Three: Singularity, Vanishing Point, Precious Cargo, The
Catwalk.  Disc Four: Dawn, Stigma, Cease Fire, Future Tense.
Disc Five: Canamar, The Crossing, Judgment, Horizon.  Disc Six:
The Breach, Cogenitor, Regeneration, First Flight.  Disc Seven:
Bounty, The Expanse, Special Features).

Season Two’s video quality is excellent.  Images are crisp with
sharp detail.  Colors are rich and bold with nicely saturated
hues.  Black levels are uniformly deep throughout.  Picture
defect mastering is commendable with no major flaws or defects.
The overall audio quality is very good with the Dolby Digital 5.1 track
serving as the basis for this review.  The soundtrack mix favors
the forward soundstage.  Dialogue is natural-sounding and firmly
anchored in the center channel.  The surround channels are
moderately active and are used for both ambient effects and the music
score.  The LFE channel is tight and also incorporates an
occasionally powerful rumble.
