SAINT-SAËNS: Piano Trio No. 1 in F Major; Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor – Vienna Piano Trio – MD&G
I’d say this recording is the best way to experience two very attractive works by the French master.

BEETHOVEN: Piano Sonata “Appassionata”; CARL CZERNY: La Ricordanza; SCHUBERT: Sonata in c – Jin Ju, p. – MDG
Marvelous coupling, well thought out, and played to the hilt.

It’s instructive and pleasurable to hear these works played on instruments Brahms would have known first-hand; the quieter, gentler pieces fare best.
FRANZ LIZST: Tasso, Lamento e Trionfo; Totentanz; other works – Beethoven Orch. Bonn/ Stefan Blunier – MD&G
Works from two distinct periods of Liszt’s life but on a common theme. If you have a liking for Liszt, this should please.

The voices are presented in an affecting and effective manner that allows the blended sonorities to come through with powerful force and much presence.
ANTON BRUCKNER: Symphony No. 0; March; Three Pieces – Beethoven Orch. Bonn/ Stefan Blunier – MDG Live
This is a most impressive performance, very well recorded, and the audience at the live concert hardly seems to be there.
SCHUMANN: Fantasia in C Major, Op. 17; Piano Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 11 – Jin Ju, piano – MD&G
Curious: the lesser work gets a fine performance from Jin Ju, while Schumann’s greatest piano piece is a letdown.
The 5 Browns in Hollywood [TrackList below] – Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae Brown, pianos – E1 Entertainment
They’ve been described as “button-down cute and somewhat otherworldly.” Most apt.
