Our September drawing is for three sets of the new 3-CD box titled The Perlman Sound. It features many of the most popular works and recordings from the complete edition of 77 Perlman albums on 59 CDs, and proves why Itzak Perlman is regarded as today’s supreme violinist.  Here is a complete list of all the selections on the 3 CDs. The complete set includes recordings Perlman made for Warner, EMI and Teldec over a 30-year period. Our June drawing for all site visitors are two new CDs from Navona Records for six of our readers who register this month using our simple form here. First is Book 1 of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier, performed by pianist Kimiko Ishizaka, plus Voyage by composer Pierre Schroeder – which is the 200th Navona Records release. Pianist Ishizaka was called by The New York Times “a gifted and obviously devoted Bachian.”  Voyage, for 11 players, uses jazz, blues, and folk idioms but is still grounded in classical form. For February 2015 we have one of the largest disc sets we have ever awarded a reader – the 51-CD collection of the complete Decca, Philips & DGG recordings made by phenomenal Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter. He is widely regarded as perhaps the greatest pianist of the 20th century, and is known for his virtuoso technique, huge repertory and the depth of his interpretations. His collaborations with Rostropovich, Karajan and Benjamin Britten are included, plus a booklet with rare photos and an essay by Jed Distler. Here are listings of all 51 CDs. Our January drawing/giveaway is for one of six hi-res Pure Audio Blu-rays from Sono Luminus plus a standard CD of the same program. The three albums are: Entendre, with the violin/cello duo in works of Kodaly, Ravel, Sousa, Halvorsen, Servais & Leonard, Inscape’s Sprung Rhythm—with a collection of works by three new American composers, and American Anthem—the Ying Quartet and guests album: works by Barber, Hanson and Thompson.
