Harp Music of Debussy, Charriere, Thomas, d’Almivare and Blank [TrackList follows] – Duo-harpists Geneviève Chevallier and Christine Fleischmann – VDE-Gallo (Gall)
Lovely assortment by Swiss harp duo Chevallier and Fleischmann.
SCHUMANN: Symphony No. 2 in C Major; Symphony No. 4 in D Minor – Orch. de ch. de Lausanne/ Christian Zacharias – MDG
The Lausanne Chamber Orchestra sounds fresh and sprightly in the Fourth; the Second Symphony gets a fine performance, though Schumann’s grand climaxes are a little less grand.
BEETHOVEN: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 61a; C.P.E. BACH: Piano Concerto in C Minor, WQ 43, No. 4 – Dmitri Bashkirov, piano/Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne/Peter Csaba – Claves
For those who collect pianist Bashkirov, the 1772 C.P.E. Bach concerto will likely possess more staying power than the hybrid Beethoven piece.
