The Debussy orchestral wine here dispensed in glowing new bottles, as Gatti reveals a sympathy for this composer that ranks with any of the ‘Old School’ conductors.

SCHUBERT: Piano Quintet in A; “Trout Variations”; The Trout – Jan Vogler, cello/ Antti Siirala, piano/ Benjamin Schmid, violin/ Lars Anders Tomter, viola/ Janne Saksala, bass/ Erik Sollid, hardanger fiddle/ Stian Carstensen, accordion – Sony Classical
An excellent “Trout” but the disc is marred by lesser performer-takes on the music.

An interesting compilation of Glass works, though without the symphonies, film scores and string quartets on a different label.

A wonderful survey of French chamber music for violin and piano in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

Her Bach this time is very good, and is matched by Schubert of an even higher order.
