Recorded live at NYC’s Blue Note club in l998, this is the second album from Telarc devoted to the work of this dream piano trio – two of the its members no longer with us. None of these tracks have been released previously. What superlatives can we come up with to describe probably the greatest jazz pianist still with us, and the greatest recent bassist and vibist? The seven tracks are all jazz favorites except for the new extended blues in the middle, and all are at least seven minutes or more to give the trio plenty of time for some terrific soloing. Peterson plays a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand with its extra notes in the bass and occasionally makes use of them. That’s just one part of the audiophile chops found on this CD. Dig it!
