(Yoko Miwa, piano; Massimo Biolcati, doublebass; Scott Goulding, drums; Bronek Suchanek, doublebass on tracks 3 & 8)
A pleasantly pleasing , lyrical piano trio outing. Ms. Miwa composed the 11 tracks here and they all have a rather simple allbeit sophisticated melodic approach, delivered with great sensitivity. The whole thing seem more ECM/European in concept to me, but with a more diatonic melodic slant. The title tune starts out very simply but builds to greater complexty; there’s a slight Asian twist to the melody. This is not her first album, and Miwa shows she is a jazz pianist to be reckoned with. Good sonics, too.
