There’s not a lot to report here. Paramount is merely offering the first two Godfather Blu-rays for sale separately, which is a nice touch for those who don‘t care about the third film – which couldn’t hold a candle to the first two, since they won Best Pictures of 1972 and 1974 respectively. And the original Godfather is regarded by many film critics as the greatest American film ever made. No. 1 won six Academy Awards and No. 2 won three. Here was our review of the original three-film Blu-ray set.
So what’s different about these two separate BLU offerings? They of course preserve the meticulous revelatory restorations made of all the films, but the separate DVD packed with bonus features is gone, and the only extra on each of these separates is the original and provocative commentary track by Coppola.
