Candido & Gracila – Inovidable

I reviewed the CD version of this SACD (and it was already a fantastic
sounding disc.)  Aside from the improvements wrought by the SACD
format (i.e. better depth, resolution, dynamics, less noise, etc.), the
multichannel mix makes listening to this disc an entirely new
experience.  The sense of space is uncanny in its realism. 
It’s as if the ambient cues were waiting there to take form and place
the listener directly in the middle of the church during the recording
session.  The music is alive and present and the style has a
seductive old-world feel.  If you are a fan of the Buena Vista
Social Club, then you are sure to fall in love with this
recording.  It’s all Latin flavor with a little salsa and spice
made just right.  Track three is a slower, sweet tune that will
make you sway to the music with its romantic fiddle work.  Track
five is one I use often to audition new pieces of equipment—the
combination of the drums and bass is electric.  Other tunes are
light and airy like a warm sunny day in the park.  Chesky has
worked their magic and made one of my favorite SACDs.  Highly
