Teo Gheorghiu plays the little genius Vitus in the current fiction film from Switzerland, but he’s a pianist genius in real life too, as testified by his performances on this CD. He is heard in two excerpts from the Schumann Piano Concerto, with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, and in a section of the Mozart Requiem arranged by Mario Beretta for piano, orchestra and choir.
The young pianist is also a good actor. The Vitus of the movie prefers playing in his grandfather’s workshop and dreaming of flying to studies at the piano. Because of the duplication of many of the selections on the CD, it will primarily interest those captivated by the motion picture.
