EUGEN D’ALBERT: Der Golem – Mark Morouse, baritone (the Golem) / Alfred Reiter, bass (Rabbi Loew) / Tansel Akzeybek, tenor (the Disciple) / Ingeborg Greiner, soprano (Lea) /Chorus of Theater Bonn / Beethoven Orchester Bonn / Stefan Blunier – MD&G (2)
This is an opera very much worth hearing, and the performances are pretty much on target. But the recording, especially given that it’s supposed to provide an audiophile experience, is lacking.
GERSHWIN: Porgy and Bess (complete opera) – Jonathan Lemalu (Porgy), Isabelle Kabatu (Bess), Bibiana Nwobilo (Clara), Michael Forest (Sporting Life)/ Rodney Clarke (Jake)/ Arnold Schoenberg Choir/ Chamber Orch. of Europe/ Nikolaus Harnoncourt – RCA (3)
Porgy and Bess— directed by Harnoncourt? The results may or may not surprise you.
BRAHMS: The Complete Violin Sonatas, Blu-ray (2010)
Beautiful performances in great sound in a spectacular setting.
