Print a Kiddie LP Using a 3D Printer; New European Copyright Laws; CES and T.H.E. Shows in Las Vegas; Brian Cheney of VMPS Dies
Animals & Cannibals – 3 Leg Torso – Meester Records Dance of the Three Legged Elephants – Matthew Barley, cello; Julian Joseph, p. – Signum Classics
Two Three-Legged CDs of mostly original lighter music.
BRAHMS: Violin Concerto; C. SCHUMANN: Three Romances – Lisa Batiashvili, violin/ Alice Sara Ott, p./ Staatskapelle Dresden/ Christian Thielemann – DGG
Lovely performances of two Romantic works, large and small – but another half hour of music would be even more attractive.
“Menuhin in Moscow” = BACH: Adagio from Solo Sonata No. 1; BRAHMS: Violin Sonata No. 3; BEETHOVEN: Violin Concerto – Yehudi Menuhin, violin/ Hephzibah Menuhin, piano/ USSR State Sym. Orch./ Evgeny Svetlanov – Melodiya
Yehudi and Hephzibah Menuhin scored an artistic and ‘political’ triumph in Moscow 1962, playing a combination of chamber and full concert music.
GRIEG: Music for Peer Gynt – Ilse Hollweg, sop./ Beecham Choral Society/ Royal Philharmonic Orch./ Sir Thomas Beecham (1957) – EMI/Hi-Q Records
Another exceptional xrcd24, this time from a 1957 early stereo Abbey Road master.
R. STRAUSS: Josephs-Legende Ballet Pantomime – Orch. of the Bavarian Radio Munich/ Robert Heger – Arcanta
The 1914 Joseph’s Legend Ballet-Pantomime has a classic rendition restored from the 1952 reading by Robert Heger, but be prepared to sit through it all.
FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA 5-Film Collection, Blu-ray (1974-2009/2012)
Really only three great films by Coppola, but the price is much better than getting them separately on Blu-ray.
LISZT: Selected Works = Two Concert Etudes; Six Consolations; Benediction de Dieu dans la solitude; Trois Liebestraume; Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12; Les Cloches de Geneve; Three Petrarch Sonnets; Mephisto Waltz No. 1 – Dmitri Vorobiev, piano – Blue Griffin (2 CDs)
Vorobiev brings a natural prowess and temperament to the composer’s demands for both bravura and poetry.
MONTSALVATGE, Music for Two Pianos (Piano Music 3) – Jordi Masó, piano 1 /Miquel Villalba, piano 2 and celeste; Pia Freund, sop./ Rerran Careller and Miquel Àngel Martínez, percussion / Ensemble Barcelona 216 /Ernest Martínez Izquierdo – Naxos
Wide-ranging music from one of modern Spain’s most important composers.
BEETHOVEN: Violin Concerto; Grosse Fuge in B-flat Major – Wolfgang Schneiderhahn, v./ Berlin Philharmonic Orch./ Wilhelm Furtwaengler – Pristine Audio
Mark Obert-Thorn and Pristine restore one of the monumental readings of the Beethoven Violin Concerto, too long denied us Furtwaengler faithful; and the Great Fugue proves no less overwhelming.
PHILIP GLASS: Einstein on the Beach (highlights) – Philip Glass Ensemble/soloists (CD); + doc. DVD – /Chris Verges, producer – Orange Mt.
Recommended highly for fans of Philip Glass and for those who want an essential addition to 20th century music history.

A wonderful program and arrangements, but Lemper is just a bit over the top for my taste.
