With the cooperation of Decca/Universal Music Classics, we are offering this month as our drawing/giveaway two complete sets of the 55-CD Mercury Living Presence: The Collector’s Edition 2. [Reviewed Here.] Among the rarities in the set are John Corigliano’s Piano Concerto and Dorati’s groundbreaking recording of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Each sleeve reproduces the original cover art and liner notes. When you register using our simple form, please include your full name and complete address or we won’t know where to send your award. Our monthly selections are NOT random, and without your completion of most fields, we cannot properly choose the winners. Next month both lucky winners of the complete sets will be announced right here. Our drawing/giveaway for September is for two complete sets of the Mercury Living Presence: The Collector’s Edition 2 set of 55 CDs (here is our review of it), following on last year’s first Mercury Living Presence box set—an audiophile’s dream. (Which we reviewed here.)  The new set includes some rarities now on CD for the first time and more of the expertly remastered and remixed digital versions of the originals from mostly three-channel Mercury tapes, including some from 35mm mag film. These sonically-spectacular Mercury Living Presence recordings have long been considered part of the Golden Age of classical recording. The set includes the original cover art and liner notes.
